Duplex Strainers for Acids and Harsh Environments

Hayward PVC duplex strainers are designed for municipal and industrial water applications or for any application where the fluid or environment is aggressive to alloy materials. The standard strainer basket material is perforated PVC, although we can supply 316SS perforated and mesh-lined strainer baskets if preferred.

 

The very ergonomically thoughtful design begins with a pair of simplex strainers connected together by a pair of special 3-way ball valves that are linked to a single operator, thus ensuring easy flow diversion without interruption of flow. We can automate the valve with a valve actuator; however it is not recommended to automatically actuate the diverting valves based upon differential pressure. Once the flow is diverted to the clean basket it is imperative that the dirty basket is cleaned prior to the other basket becoming clogged.

 

True-union connections enable repositioning the inlet and outlet valves and also make it easier to install and remove the strainer or valve bodies from the pipeline. The "rabbit ear" cover handles and thumb valves for the vent and drain ports contribute to safe, easy access to the isolated basket chamber.

Note: For 2-1/2", 3" and 4" sizes the "S" suffix indicates socket ends and the "T" suffix indicates threaded ends. EPDM seal versions end in "E"; FKM versions do not.
