Model 73 simplex strainers are designed for large pipelines (10" through 18") and are popular as pump suction strainers. Their straight-through flow path produces smooth laminar flow and low pressure drop across the unit. Fluid enters through the side of the strainer basket into a half-circle shaped area; the convoluted accordion-like basket design increases the gross filtration surface area.
If you do not require the customizations and ASME code stamp available with our custom fabricated Eaton Model 90 simplex strainers, the Model 73 is an excellent choice. An often-overlooked benefit of the side-entry basket design is its lighter weight and more compact size, making the basket far easier to remove than the designs used on Model 90 units and on smaller pipelines.
The compact cast construction of the Model 73 also contributes to short lead times and competitive cost.
