CPVC Duplex strainers are typically used for higher temperature applications that are not as compatible with PVC material. The design of Hayward's duplex strainer consists of two simplex housings connected by a pair of 3-way ball valves. The strainers and valves have true union connections which makes disassembly or orienting an inlet/outlet to face the other direction very easy.
The special 3-way valve design enables operating both flow diverting valves simultaneously, so the flow is gradually diverted from the dirty chamber to the clean chamber. Once the dirty basket chamber is isolated, the vent valve and drain valves can be opened to drain the fluid from the basket chamber. The basket is easily accessed via a chamber cover having oversized handles, thus no tools are required for diverting, accessing and readying the dirty chamber for reuse.
