Hayward PVC Y strainers are industrial-duty injection molded products designed for harsh fluids and environments. The PVC contains UV inhibitors, so the strainers are suitable for outdoor use.
A frequently asked question is: Are your PVC Y strainers Schedule 40 or 80? The answer is “neither.” That terminology describes uniform wall thickness of piping. These are molded products with varying wall thicknesses and therefore cannot be assigned a specific schedule. Refer to the pressure and temperature performance chart in the Hayward Y Strainer Specifications file to confirm suitability for your application.
Each strainer consists of a body, a strainer element and a threaded element chamber cover. The captured o-ring on the chamber cover requires only minimal tightening for a reliable seal. Standard elements are perforated PVC. 316 stainless steel perforated or mesh-lined elements are also available.
Standard connections include threaded, socket (solvent weld) and flanged. Threaded and socket versions can also be supplied as true-union designs for easier installation and replacement.
The standard 1/32" perforated element provides a 2:1 open area ratio and therefore low clean differential pressure. Y strainers may be installed horizontally or vertically when flow is downward.
