Style GFV cast iron simplex strainers are comparable to Eaton models 30R, 72 and 73; likewise they are comparable to Titan models BS25, 55 and 65 cast iron basket strainers. The model GFV is also available in a 250# style for higher pressures than any of the Eaton or Titan flanged cast iron strainers can handle. The GFV simplex strainers have a bolted cover as standard with a knob style closure as an option.
Style GFV simplex strainers are available in 2" through 16" sizes and have an angular cutaway basket design to keep the clean differential pressure to a minimum.

The GFV style is also available in cast carbon steel (SGFV), 316SS (SSGFV) and bronze (BGFV). The GFV series tends to applied for higher pressure requirements (250#, 300# and 600#) although they are available in the 150# pressure class also. With exception to the 12" - 16" sizes, Eaton and Titan have higher flow coefficient (Cv) values and thus the GFV style is best for lower flow rates and higher pressures. Neither Eaton or Titan offer a 600# cast basket strainer.
The reason we do not list the 150# variations of the GFV basket strainers in our website is due to their lower flow coefficient (Cv) value, equating to a higher differential pressure for a given flow. This translates into increased frequency of basket cleaning. Nonetheless, if Eaton or Titan does not have the the appropriate stock, if the GFV pricing is better or if you prefer this design, we can provide it to you.
We've taken a unique approach to this website. We group our strainers by material in order from smallest to largest and provide links to their outline drawing with an embedded differential pressure calculator to help you compare strainer models and brands by performance.
