Basket Strainers Made of PVC

Hayward industrial-grade PVC basket strainers are used when process flow can be interrupted to clean the strainer basket. The overall design is rugged and ergonomic with user safety in mind.

 

The PVC body is a one-piece injection-molded design with three ports: an inlet, a same-side lower outlet, and an opposite-side outlet. This configuration provides flexibility in how the strainer is plumbed into the system. Although a finger-tight drain plug is provided, the lower true-union connection is often used as a drain port with the optional drain kit. This arrangement facilitates quicker drainage and minimizes potential contact between personnel and the process fluid. True-union connections simplify installation and, for glued socket connections, allow installation or removal without cutting the pipeline. The integrally molded slotted flat bottom can be secured to grade. As a valve manufacturer, Hayward can also supply matching isolation valves (ball or butterfly) that are manually or electrically/pneumatically actuated.

 

The chamber cover has oversized handles that enable removal and installation without tools, reducing the chance of strainer damage from over-tightening. The vent plug is easily loosened to facilitate drainage and to vent air during filling.

 

Inside each Hayward PVC simplex strainer is a perforated PVC strainer basket with an angled design that minimizes pressure drop. Perforated baskets made of CPVC, GFPP or 316 stainless steel are also available. 316 stainless steel is used for mesh-lined baskets when fine particle retention is required.

 

All Hayward strainers carry a 2-year warranty. Most orders ship within 1–2 days directly from the manufacturing plant in Clemmons, NC to minimize lead time and shipping cost. Shipment within the continental USA is free for orders over $3,000.

The table below associates part numbers by size and connection type (standard FKM o-ring). Add the suffix “E” for EPDM o-rings (example: SB1050STE).

Notes:

• ½", ¾" and 1" basket strainers – standard perforation is 1/32".
• 1½" through 8" basket strainers – standard perforation is 1/8".
• You may substitute 1/32", 1/16", 1/8" or 3/16" perforated baskets in place of the standard perforation at no extra charge.
• Strainer baskets are the same material as the strainer body unless otherwise specified.
• ½" through 2" PVC strainers are supplied with both socket and threaded end connectors.
