Model BS86 simplex basket strainers are designed for higher pressures, with ANSI Class 300# flanged connections, and are available in 1" to 8" sizes. Because of the pressure class the cover is bolted and requires tools for basket access.
Price and lead time are common decision factors, but the flow coefficient (Cv) should also be compared from a performance standpoint.
Baskets with a higher Cv can handle higher flow rates at a given pressure. This also translates into less frequent cleaning, reducing downtime, personnel exposure to the process fluid, and the energy required to maintain a target flow rate.
Cv values for the 2" to 8" sizes are close enough that the designs will perform essentially the same; ergonomics, cost and lead time become the deciding factors. In the larger sizes shown for reference, Keckley offers a lower initial pressure drop.
