Fluidtrol was founded in 1992 and is a USA manufacturer of non-alloy baskets strainers made of PVC, CPVC, Polypropylene, PVDF and fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP). Fluidtrol differentiates themselves from companies such as Hayward by offering strainers in alternate materials such as PVDF and FRP as well as specialized designs including off-set nozzles and angled configurations. The FRP designs in particular are highly customizable. The FRP simplex basket strainers are also available for pipelines up to 24" in support of high flow rate applications typical of water parks, aquatic life support systems, zoos and industrial applications either handling fluids aggressive to alloys or located in corrosive environments.
Strainer baskets are available in a variety of materials including 316SS, PVC and PVDF. The closure style can be bolted or tool-less swing bolt style depending upon the application (pressure).
Our FRP simplex strainers are really wonderful although there are some limitations: due to differential thermal expansion rates between metal and plastic, transmittal of pipe vibration, and pipe loading forces, DIRECT INSTALLATION OF METAL PIPE INTO PLASTIC CONNECTIONS IS NOT RECOMMENDED. Wherever installation of plastic strainers into metal piping systems is desired, it is recommended that at least 10 pipe diameters in length of plastic pipe be installed upstream and downstream of the plastic strainer to compensate for the factors mentioned above.
The folks at Fluidtrol are very responsive to inquires and boast of 20 to 30 year lifespans for their FRP simplex basket strainers. They absolutely compliment our non-alloy PVC/CPVC/GFPP simplex basket strainer products from Hayward.
