Clear Y Strainers for Visual Confirmation of Flow

Clear PVC Y strainers enable visual confirmation of flow rate and element clogging. Although abrasive particulate will gradually reduce clarity, you will still be able to confirm flow and notice excessive air. Hayward clear PVC Y strainers are offered with threaded, socket (solvent weld) and flanged connections for PVC piping up to 2". Socket and threaded versions are also available with true-union connections that simplify installation and allow replacement of the strainer body if it becomes damaged. The interior screen is perforated PVC and can also be supplied in 316 stainless steel with perforated or mesh-lined retention.

 

The strainer consists of three components: the body, the screen, and the screen chamber cover that incorporates a captured o-ring for a positive seal. The hex-shaped chamber cover is easily removed because only modest torque is required for sealing.

• Standard screens are made of PVC.
• Stainless steel mesh-lined options are available in 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 mesh.
• ½" through 1½" Clear PVC Y strainers are supplied with both socket and threaded end connectors.
