Temporary plate strainers are the most compact version of a temporary strainer. They fit nicely between a pair of pipe flanges and are commonly used when the expectation for particulate is during an upset condition. They are also frequently used for commissioning of closed-loop heating and cooling systems.
Their flat design reduces the pipeline open area and therefore creates a pressure drop. If the pipeline velocity and particulate loading is relatively low, a temporary plate strainer can be a good fit.
We supply temporary plate strainers for 150# and 300# pipelines in sizes from ¾" to 20". Standard materials are carbon steel, 304L stainless steel, and 316L stainless steel. The standard perforation is 1/8", with other perforation sizes and mesh lining available upon request.
The mesh side always faces upstream so the underlying perforated substrate supports the delicate mesh material. Standard mesh lining sizes include 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100, 150, and 200 mesh.
Standard open area ratios are 100% or 150%. Longer elements with higher open area ratios are available when required.
We can quickly provide proposals for temporary plate strainers in carbon steel or stainless steel, with perforation or mesh lining, based on your pipeline size and application.
