Molded CPVC Basket Strainers

 

Hayward simplex strainers are designed with usability and safety in mind. The one-piece injection-molded body with true-union connections makes installation straightforward even in harsh environments. When it is time to clean the basket, isolate the strainer with a pair of valves, open the vent plug on the cover and remove the body drain plug to empty most of the fluid from the basket chamber. The extra true-union connection on the lower portion of the body can serve as an additional outlet or as an alternate outlet for a same-side “loop” configuration. An optional drain-valve kit can be installed on the lower true-union connection for faster drainage, especially with viscous fluids.

 

The Hayward CPVC basket strainer is designed to be installed and serviced without tools. The oversized rabbit-ear cover handle provides quick removal and sufficient sealing by hand, reducing the risk of over-tightening. The vent and drain plugs are also hand-operable; for aggressive fluids a ball-valve drain kit is a worthwhile upgrade. Hayward also manufactures matching CPVC ball and butterfly valves (manual or actuated) that we can supply for isolation during basket cleaning.

 

The slanted basket positively orients inside the body to minimize differential pressure and prevent spinning when inlet velocity is high (maximum recommended inlet velocity is 5 FPS). Standard baskets are perforated CPVC; 316 stainless steel perforated and mesh-lined baskets are available when required.

• For ½", ¾" and 1" basket strainers the standard perforation is 1/32".
• For 1½" through 8" basket strainers the standard perforation is 1/8".
• You may substitute 1/32", 1/16", 1/8" or 3/16" perforated baskets in place of the standard perforation at no charge.
• Strainer baskets are the same material as the strainer body.
• ½" through 2" units are supplied with both socket and threaded end connectors.
