Clear Plastic Basket Strainers

 

Hayward’s Eastar strainers have a crystal-clear, glass-like appearance that is aesthetically pleasing for many applications and also serves as a visual indicator of flow through the system. Although often described as “clear PVC,” Eastar is actually a polyester compound that offers excellent strength and chemical-resistance characteristics. The true-union connections are made of (non-translucent) PVC and allow the strainer to be installed or removed from the pipeline easily without tools. The vent and drain fittings are thumb-style plugs, and the basket-chamber cover has a pair of large rabbit-ear handles that make opening and closing effortless. When tools are not required there is far less chance of damaging the strainer by over-tightening.

 

The internal basket is supplied in PVC, CPVC or 316 stainless steel as required; the standard is PVC, while 316SS is used for mesh-lined baskets and is also available for perforated baskets. The slanted basket design minimizes differential pressure across the strainer and prevents the basket from spinning when fluid velocity approaches the maximum recommended inlet velocity of 5 FPS. A flat base with integral mounting feet allows the unit to be secured to grade.

• For ½", ¾" and 1" basket strainers the standard perforation is 1/32".
• For 1½" through 4" basket strainers the standard perforation is 1/8".
• You may substitute 1/32", 1/16", 1/8" or 3/16" perforated baskets in place of the standard perforation at no charge.
• Strainer baskets are available in PVC, CPVC, GFPP or 316 stainless steel.
• ½" through 2" Eastar strainers are supplied with both socket and threaded end connectors.
