Hayward's CPVC Y strainers are used for hot water and other high temperature fluid systems which exceed the limitations of PVC. The once piece injection molded body has a captured o-ring seal screen cover and is offered with socket, threaded or flanged connections. The socket and threaded connections are also available in a true union design to simplify installation and enable replacement of the strainer body without disturbing the piping if it become damaged.
Hayward's CPVC Y strainers can be installed horizontally or vertically for downwards flow applications. The standard 1/32" screen results in a 2:1 open area ratio (OAR) and thus minimal pressure drop across the strainer.
We are often asked Are Hayward CPVC Y strainers schedule 40 or 80? The answer is "neither" because that terminology describes uniform wall thickness characteristic of piping and since these are injection molded products having varying wall thicknesses, they cannot have a specific "schedule" assigned to them. Instead, refer to the rated pressure by temperature chart to make sure that your application falls within the limits of the strainer material chosen; the complete specifications with performance chart is within the Hayward Y Strainer Catalog Pages.
