CPVC Y Strainers for Higher Temperature Applications

Hayward CPVC Y strainers are used for hot water and other high-temperature fluid systems that exceed the temperature limits of PVC. The one-piece injection-molded body has a captured o-ring seal on the screen cover and is offered with socket, threaded or flanged connections. Socket and threaded versions are also available in a true-union design that simplifies installation and allows replacement of the strainer body without disturbing the piping.

 

These strainers can be installed horizontally or vertically for downward flow. The standard 1/32" screen provides a 2:1 open area ratio and therefore minimal clean differential pressure.

 

A frequently asked question is: Are Hayward CPVC Y strainers Schedule 40 or 80? The answer is “neither.” That terminology describes uniform wall thickness of piping. These are injection-molded products with varying wall thicknesses and therefore cannot be assigned a specific schedule. Refer to the pressure-by-temperature chart in the Hayward Y Strainer Catalog Pages to confirm suitability for your application.

• Standard screen perforation is 1/32". 1/16", 1/8" or 3/16" perforated screens may be substituted at no extra charge.
• Strainer screens are the same material as the body unless stainless steel is specified.
• Stainless steel mesh-lined options are available in 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 mesh.
• ½" through 1½" CPVC Y strainers are supplied with both socket and threaded end connectors.
