Threaded and socket end PVDF Y strainers in ½", ¾" and 1" sizes are most economical in the molded design shown at https://fdpp.com/y/PVDF.html.

Larger sizes and other connection types are supplied as fabricated PTFE or PVDF Y strainers. These are available with threaded, flanged or tri-clamp connections and can protect downstream processes from particles as fine as 12 µm.

Like most Y strainer designs, the fabricated PTFE and PVDF versions provide a 2:1 open area ratio and are not intended for continuous particle removal. See our article Simplex Strainers: Differences between Y and Basket Style Strainers for guidance on suitable applications. For continuous particulate removal consider our PTFE basket strainers.

All major components are PTFE or PVDF as specified. The straining element is ETFE or PEEK. Flanges (when used) are PVDF. The o-ring seal is FEP-encapsulated silicone.

Fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) offers chemical compatibility similar to PTFE. Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) is a corrosion-resistant fluoropolymer. Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) is a thermoplastic that retains excellent chemical and mechanical resistance at elevated temperatures.

The element and knurled end cap form a one-piece assembly that is inserted and removed without tools. A 1/8" or ¼" PTFE blow-down plug allows accumulated particles to be flushed without removing the element. Eight standard retentions are available; additional mesh sizes and special materials (porous membranes, PTFE, Hastelloy, Alloy 20, Monel, Tantalum) can be supplied.
