Glass-Filled Polypropylene Basket Strainers

 

Hayward’s polypropylene simplex strainers are typically used for chemically aggressive applications as well as higher temperatures and pressures that are incompatible with PVC and CPVC materials. The single-piece molded body results in a rugged, user-friendly design consisting of only a few components: the body, cover, connections and vent/drain plugs. The oversized cover handles enable removal and installation without tools and reduce the possibility of over-tightening. The vent and drain plugs are also designed to seal adequately by hand; if preferred, we can supply vent and drain valves to further minimize contact with the process fluid.

 

Hayward GFPP simplex strainers have one inlet and two potential outlets. One outlet can be directly opposite the inlet and the other directly under the inlet (commonly called a “loop” configuration). The bottom outlet can also accept a ball valve for quick draining; the valve may be manual or electrically/pneumatically actuated. Hayward manufactures a complete range of plastic valves for strainer isolation, venting and drainage.

 

True-union connections simplify installation and removal from the pipeline, which is especially important with socket-fused or solvent-cemented piping. The flat-bottom base includes slots for securing the strainer to grade.

 

Inside the strainer is an injection-molded GFPP basket available with 1/32", 1/16", 1/8" or 3/16" perforations; 316 stainless steel perforated or mesh-lined baskets are also available. The angled basket design minimizes differential pressure and prevents the basket from spinning during high-velocity upset conditions. The basket handle remains above the fluid level to reduce potential contact by personnel.

• 1½" through 4" basket strainers have a standard perforation of 1/8".
• You may substitute 1/32", 1/16", 1/8" or 3/16" perforated baskets in place of the standard perforation at no charge.
• Strainer baskets are the same material as the strainer body.
